Why we don’t charge for consultations
Kootenay Energy is a free educational and contractor-matching service. The calculator and our published guides cover most of what a paid consultation would — the rebate stacking math, the program sequencing, the gotchas. If you want a human conversation, the email and phone below are real and answered.
The way we make a living is on the contractor side: when you ultimately hire one of the vetted Kootenay installers we route leads to, they pay us a referral fee out of their normal margin. That means our incentives are to send you to a contractor who actually closes the work — not to bill you for an hour of advice. You owe us nothing either way, and you’re free to ignore our match and hire someone else.

Your situation is unusual
Mixed heating systems, a partial conversion, an off-grid cabin, or anything the calculator doesn't obviously fit.
Multi-unit or condo
Strata buildings and MURBs run on a different rebate stream (ESP condo) with its own rules. Happy to walk through it by email.
